What makes a Happy Home? I love to take care of my family. For me, creating a home that is warm and inviting, where everyone feels welcome is pure joy! The smell of fresh laundry just in off the clothesline, a neat and tidy home and garden, a good home cooked meal, a few desserts here and there, the love of family, friends and fellowship all help to make our home a Happy Home. Join me as we celebrate the holidays, the birthdays and the every days!

Christmas Magic

If you are following the Organized Christmas Houseworks Holiday Plan
http://organizedchristmas.com/houseworks-holiday-plan
You will have finished the following weeks to-do list:
  • Planning Week - I de-cluttered my "office" (a few overflowing baskets filled with bills etc.) Our shredder really got a work out! I also printed out the new pages for my Christmas Magic Notebook. We have a Christmas club so that eliminates the need to decide on an overall budget. However I have to divide it between, gifts, food, tree and decorations.
  • Calendar Week - I bought white "wooden" craft storage units at AC Moore and really organized my craft studio. I've also started looking at my Gooseberry Patch Books for inspiration as well as old Christmas Magazines that I hoard (Martha, Country Home, County Living, Paula Deen and many more).
  • Me and Mine Week - I destructed and reconstructed our bedroom. Everything came down - curtains, artwork, everything even the rugs came out and were washed, polished, etc. Mmm, boy does it smell clean. I've been updating my Christmas addresses list since last year and am ready to hand-address the envelopes (I like it to be more personalized). I am also ready to start mass-production of my cards. I also have purchased quite a few gifts throughout the year and now have an organized list of who's getting what.
  • Close to Home Week - My sons are 19 and 21, so they keep their rooms they way they want to. If I don't like it, I just shut the door. This took sometime for me to come to this conclusion. However, it's really not that bad. The Purple Heart is coming on 10/6 to pick up unwanted household items and clothing, so we've got a few bags to donate. I haven't addressed our cards yet, but I vow to have them addressed by 11/1.

This week focuses on House Room. We don't have a guest room, but I plan on giving one of the other rooms some extra attention. I'm also constantly working on the scrapbooks and trying to fit in the Christmas Recipe book.

I love having a to-do list, and crossing things off is the BEST feeling! I know that we have over 80 days, but I'm feeling rushed.

Reliable Dealers

I have 2 great friends that are terrific, reliable dealers for 2 totally different things.

You all know that I love to craft and scrapbook. I found my love of scrapping through Stampin' Up. My friend Kelli is a rep and she has her own site which is full of terrific ideas and products!

Check out: http://www.kelliwolfel.stampinup.net/

Another good friend of my sells Avon. And, it's not your grandmothers/mothers Avon! Their new products are terrific. Perhaps you've seen their new ads featuring Reese Witherspoon. Linda sells on line at www.youravon.com/ljacobs

Tell them I sent you!

Rudolph Day

I'm listening to Randy Travis "Songs of the Season" as I write this. It's actually so chilly out tonight that I've closed the downstairs windows. I have a sugar cookie candle burning and the house is soo cozy.

Mmm... I think that I'll make some hot cider to have while I watch the Martha Stewart Christmas DVD. It's great! Does anyone else have it? I have the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's series. They are chock full of recipes, decorating and craft ideas.

I'm still plugging away at the scrapbooks and my Christmas recipe book. I'll take some photos of the scrapbooks to share later this week.

I was on 2 of my favorite Christmas sites today:
www.mymerrychristmas.com
www.magicalholidayhome.com

Please be sure to check them both out. They have amazing forums and chats for other Christmas nuts!

Countdown

This is my version of the altered clipboard. I also used an empty box (that had fudge in it from OC Maryland) to make a box to hold the additional numbers.

Double Digits

The countdown is on! I'm so excited... I made my clipboard countdown from instructions on http://magicalholidayhome.com/. I'll share photos later.

Bob and I were watching a little TV this week and I saw 2 movies advertising Christmas premiers. It just gets me in the mood. I work at an advertising agency and we are creating a Christmas Catalog for a sheet music distributor. Just seeing all the names of the songs makes me hum a few while I'm working.

I have all of the elements to make my Christmas cards and have even created a prototype. I needs to be tweaked, but overall I like the design.

Srapbook up date:
Adam 30pgs
Bryan 24pgs
Only 146 (total) to go.

Merry Countdown!
