A Pink Show and Tell

This oil painting hangs in our living room. Can you see the beautiful pink gown that the woman is wearing? A friend of mine was moving and asked if I wanted it. Who wouldn't want it?

The colors and details are wonderful in this close-up.

While my parents were at the beach last week, I took care of their Himalayan cat Sue-lea, the plants and the mail. Of course my Mum had to bring me back a lovely tea pot to thank me. She is so sweet and the thoughtful, the best Mum anyone could ask for. Although I told her before they left not to buy me anything.

What makes this even more dear to my heart is the my Dad picked it out. He said it had to be this one because it just looked like me!

Be sure to stop by Kelli's on Friday for more Show and Tell fun and Beverly's on Saturday for Pink Saturday or maybe you have something fun to share too!

Oh and just in case your visiting for a little more Christmas in July...I wanted to share another one of our traditions...

Every year on Christmas Eve Santa hides a pickle ornament on the tree. The first person to find the ornament gets 1 extra present. It's usually a fancy candy or special treat, something small that won't cause hard feelings between siblings. Does anyone else do this German tradition?

Thanks for visiting, I would love to hear from you!

Your teapot is really beautiful. It is so special because you dad picked it out. These are the things that make beautiful memories.

Your painting is also lovely. Isn't it interesting how one person doesn't want something anymore and it goes on to be treasured by someone else.

Love the teapot. Isn't it funny how when our dad's pick something out for us it seems more dear to us. :) Not that things aren't dear to us if mom picks it out. ;)
We do the christmas pickle...but I give each kid a little treat no matter who finds it.

Cathi said...

We don't do the pickle although I have a glass-blown pickle. We do German Christmas cookies though. My great-grandmother was born in Germany and has handed the cookie recipe down. I have one of the original cards written in my grandfathers handwriting.

How sweet of your mom and especially your dad to think of you that way. Funny how parents don't listen any better than kids!

Hi Leann,
You showed us some wonderful things today. In just this one post, you told us a lot about the love and thoughtfulness you share with your friends and family members.

Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving the generous comments. You asked if I'm a design professional. I'm flattered, but no, I'm not (but I like to draw and paint, install art shows, enjoy selecting ornamental plants for the garden -- I guess it's all related).

I hope our paths cross again very soon. Have a great weekend!

Hi Leann,
Love that painting. Hey, I have a couple of old looking paintings with that goldish frame. Do you ever think about painting them a different color? I would like to, but, believe it or not, I'm nervous to do it. Would be hard to get back to Gold if i did not like it.

Blessings,

Barbara Jean

PS Cute tea pot your Mom brought you.

Father does know best...the teapot is perfectly you!

Traditions are so much fun! Our family celebrates a "Christmas Mouse" tradition. Christmas Mouse (a.k.a. Mom) hides a little gift for each of us in the tree and we have to find it. Easier said than done :) It all started when my brother and I received the storybook with matching Christmas Mouse pajamas. I would love to share the photo when I find it.
