What makes a Happy Home? I love to take care of my family. For me, creating a home that is warm and inviting, where everyone feels welcome is pure joy! The smell of fresh laundry just in off the clothesline, a neat and tidy home and garden, a good home cooked meal, a few desserts here and there, the love of family, friends and fellowship all help to make our home a Happy Home. Join me as we celebrate the holidays, the birthdays and the every days!

Show & Tell

This is a photo of my Dad (he was about 6years old). A photographer came around door to door with a pony and complete outfit. How was a Mother to resist?! Isn't he sweet. I just love it! We tease him and say that he was very rich and that he had his own pony:)

Rudolph Day

Today is Rudolph Day, only 10 months to go... I snapped this photo so that you can see I leave a little Christmas cheer, up all year! Isn't he sweet? Remember, take some time to do something Christmassy today.

It's also Ash Wednesday, and I want to take some time to reflect upon this season as well.

Blessings

Pink Saturday

I've seen a lot of blogs that have Pink Saturday mentions. Not sure what they are referencing, maybe Breast Cancer Awareness? Anyway, I bought these pink tulips and couldn't resist the photo op! Have a great day!

Show & Tell

This is my first Show and Tell since grade school. I'm joining Kelli and company at There's No Place Like Home (http://kellishouse.blogspot.com).

This figurine was given to me by my Great-Aunt Gladys. She's my Gram's sister. Since my Gram's not with us anymore, I feel so close to my little Auntie. She's such a dear heart. She married late in life and after 10years of marriage her husband passed. She never had any children, but doted on all her nieces and nephew, including great nieces and nephews. She's the kind of woman who ironed her scrub rags, made everything from scratch. One day I'll share her recipe for Poor Man's Cake.

February Rudolph Day Movie and Book Club

This month's Rudolph Day movie is The Family Man and it just so happens that next Sat, Feb 21 at 5:00pm EST, ABC Family is showing the movie!

This month's book pick is The Christmas Sweater by Glenn Beck. I know that I'll watch the movie, however I don't have the book. And, since we're really watching our spending, I can't justify it. But, I'm adding the title to my wish list for birthday or Christmas.

Last of the Valentines

These are the last of my cards. The first is for my nieces, the second photo is of "matchbook" cards made from tags, the third is a tag and the fourth is for Chelsea made similar to Jades card. I used a vintage ledger sheet that had a leather tab with a "c" on it.

1 Corinthians 13
Love
1If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,b]"> but have not love, I gain nothing.

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Fun Love

A few more Valentine's for family and friends. The top photo is Jade's card. I used a sheet from a vintage ledger that had a tab with the letter "J". The second card is for my DH the pink hearts are loose as the entire card is covered in tulle. The 3rd card is for my 88 year old Great Aunt Gladys.

A few cards and I'm running late

I wanted to share a few Valentine cards that I made last night, and just now realized the time. I'm off to work. Have a great day everyone. More tomorrow, I promise.

Celebrate Me Day

Does anyone else celebrate themselves? Celebrate Me Day happens 1x per month. It's a day (7th, representing my birthday) that I make sure I do something for myself. Some months it's doing nothing at all (no housekeeping, cooking, etc.) , some months it's doing something I love ~ baking, pasta making or cooking in general. It's a day that I make decisions selfishly (unless it's an absolute "must").

Today Bob went to a fishing and hunting expo so... I've got a stack of magazines that I'm going to read and I want to visit a "few blogs". I do have laundry going because that's a "must."

I have a prayer request for my brother and his family. I'm not ready to talk about it, but please keep them in your prayers.
