An Itch at The Old Parsonage

I get an itch every year at this time. The house looks so bare once all of the Christmas decorations are down and packed away. I do still have lights and wreaths on the porch, but plan on taking them down this week.

I've been cleaning and fluffing to make the house feel cozy this winter. I'm itchin' to move some furniture. Although, because our home was built in 1916 we have those old fashioned radiators which can't be blocked during the winter months.

I did move a chair into the foyer draping it with a warm throw and decided on a new vignette for the spinet desk. I started this amaryllis later this season with the hopes that it'll bloom by Valentine's Day.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I'll be by to visit soon!

January does seem to be a time to want to freshen things up, doesn't it? I always get the itch in January to just want to do...stuff! Mostly to my environment. Every January!

Hope you had a FABULOUS Christmas season!!! xo

I'm doing the same thing here, LeAnn.. Just got done with some breakfast dishes, and now I have to continue taking down more of my Christmas decorations too. It's such a mournful task, I think, when I'm sure I should be mustering up a feeling of invigoration and enthusiasm to start fresh and anew!!.. but NO... I'm just not feelin' it!.. Maybe after another cup of coffee! (0; Have a great day! ~tina

Hi Leann....Looks like your amarylis is getting ready to bloom, probably even before Valentine's Day. I know what you mean about the bareness when decorations are put away. But it's kind of nice in a way. Take care and have a great day. Sincerely, Susan from writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com

All the decor is down, except for a couple of wreaths, and will get those when it warms up later this week. I need to get motivated.

I think everyone had the same issues after Christmas. Once it's over everyone wants Spring to happen. Hope you have a wonderful day!

Just popped by to say I love your blog banner with its Christmas theme!

I'm looking for some hyacinth bulbs to brighten up dull and dreary January and February.

Yeah, today I've been working on the Christmas decorations and it does look bare. But I usually get the itch when the weather gets warmer in the spring. :D

Hi Leann - I just wanted to tell you I love your Longaberger basket. The amaryllis and the pinecones look great in it.

I know what you mean about everything looking so bare after the Christmas is down and put away. I would almost say "clean". Although, I do love my snowmen so they stay up through the month of January, including my snowman tree. What fun!

I know what you mean.... my living room seems so bare now that the Christmas decor is gone..... although I still have it in the dining area.
Blessings!
