We love to play scrabble. Well, when I say we, it doesn't include DH, he's doesn't like to play games (except horseshoes). But the rest of us really enjoy it. We break it out at picnics and take it on vacation. There's just something about seeing those wooden letters sitting there waiting to become a word that excites me.

I recently bought this game at Jake's flea market for $5. Not all of the pieces are there, so this one will be delegated to craft projects and decorating. I love to use the tiles on scrapbook pages, cards or just to spell out messages and have them sitting around the house.

Speaking of things just sitting around the house... I buy old books to use the same way. They give added height to things that you are displaying and they are terrific to use in craft projects. These books are from the same junking trip to Jake's - 25 cents each and the sweet doll - just another quarter! I love those kind of days!

I love love love old books too. my Mom, Sister and I used to love to play scrabble. We haven't played much in recent years. I recently bought an old scrabble game at a yard sale, i haven't checked to see if all the pieces are there yet, I suppose I should before I use it for crafting!
I love Scrabble - although for some reason, we hardly every play it. But I am a crossword puzzle fanatic, so I guess that makes up for it.
I use my Scrabble tiles to create a word to spark my dreams!

I am not a game player either. Don't know why, just never cared for them or cards.
DH loves Scrabble. But he is VERY good at it and quite competitive. We don't play as often as we used to. We do like Yahtzee. Last night we played Gin Rummy for a couple of hours. It was great!
Scrabble was always our favorite game to take camping. Then we discovered pinochle, and the Scrabble board didn't find itself on as many camping trips.
Still, though, I LOVE to play Scrabble at home, especially on a rainy day. It really makes my day when I can start the game with a seven letter word.
Blessings to you,
Patti
I found an old scrabble game the other day and I can't wait to use the letters in some projects.
Love your old books and little dollie.
hugs,
Sissie
When my brother and sister and I were older and visiting home for the holidays we would always play scrabble.
We used to play Scrabble a lot before we had children. It's such a fun game! Oh, and Mexican Train was another one of our favorites. I suppose once the children get older we'll go back to playing lots of board games. :o) Chutes and Ladders here we come!
Awwww, Leann. I love to play Scrabble, too. It was my Mom's favorite game, too. Whenever I can, I get together with my sisers and we love playing. Thanks for the memories. Susan
Just catching up on your blog after a bit of an absence! I love the idea of using the old books to help with displays. Also never thought of using scrabble tiles in craft projects. It was nice to catch up :-)

I keep look for an old Scrabble game at Goodwill but so far haven't seen one! I use books for lift all the time - they're inexpensive and look great. Love your old ones!

Hi, Leann,
I love playing Scrabble, too. Plus it is very educational (that is the retired teacher coming out in me)! I know you will find many creative uses for those wonderful vintage letters and books. Your little bisque doll was a great buy, too, and she found a great home with you. Hope your day is a good one, sweet friend~ Vicki

Another Sears kit house!!!!
Your books look great--there's a whole world of possibilities in them. do you ever do altered books? I've done a couple --fun, but work. Cards are quicker!
I am ADDICTED to Scrabble. I play "words with Friends" on my iPad! LOVE IT!!! I always have someone to play with e, because nobody here will play with me any more! :(
HAGD! Karen
We love scrabble here also.
Love your flea market finds! Did you see Cathi from Shakerwood Primitives' post about the lamp her husband made from old books? You gotta check it out! It's awesome! http://shakerwoodprimitives.blogspot.com/2010/07/shedding-little-light-on-subject.html
