I love when it rains, you know that soft kind of rain that makes everything smell like spring. Small puddles appear everywhere and you can here it softly hitting the porch roof.
But torrential downpours, where your feet get soaked even when you carry an umbrella? Ugh! Those make me want to stay home, crawl under an afghan and read all day long, not head outside to brave the elements. Downpours also mean water in our 95 year old basement.

Fortunately our weather channel was wrong today. The storms stayed to the south of us and we only got a little bit of rain. The first thing I did when I got home from work was check the basement...dry! It's not like we get flooded, but a small amount of water does come in on the far side of the basement when we get hit hard. After 16 years, we're used to it, and when they call for storms, we know to pick up things that are on the floor. A dry basement is on our never ending list of home improvements.
Wishing you all a sunny week!

Here we have no basements but I remember the basement we had growing up and the flooding we had to deal with.
I love the rain....especially thunder storms. Wishing you a dry basement and sunny kind of week as well ~Love Heather
Hi Leann, Thanks for stopping by to say hello. I know what you mean about the rain. We have some issues too when we get too much rain. Glad it wasn't too bad. Linda
I woke up at 4am to the sounds (& sights) of a thunderstorm. It's been awhile since we've had one so I chose to enjoy it. We are lucky and don't have a basement that floods otherwise it wouldn't have been so enjoyable! However, if you ask the pups...they all give the storm a big paws down! Thanks for stopping by.

I know exactly what you mean about the different kinds of rain. Living here in the Pacific Northwest, we have plenty of heavy downpours. I do love the sound of rain on the roof though. Hope you have a great week Leann!
Hello Leann
I love the sound and smell of rain too. Enjoy the rest of your week!

Glad your basement was spared! We had a hard rain last night but I have to tell you, it was like music to my ears. I love to sleep to the sound of rain hitting the windows.
Some gals dream of new kitchens; I dream of dry basements, especially in spring. Probably isn't too soon to begin getting the basement tidied in anticipation of the inevitable. We're 24 inches ahead of normal with snowfall so that's gotta go somewhere. I enjoyed your description of a gentle rain. That's all we want for spring rains, right?
Hi Leann,
I know what you mean about an old basement. Our home is 85 yrs old. I love a soft rain also. Something so soothing about it. I love to bake on rainy cold days too. Have a sunny week!
Hugs,
Debbie
We live in Washington and while everyone's winter has had a lot of snow, we have had a lot of rain, per usual. There was slush on the ground this morning, our version of snow!
Hi Leann! We had some rain over the weekend, but it's been dry today; sunny, but still chilly out!.. Thanks for your very sweet comment! I'm so new to scrapping, and I can get SO excited over the simplest creations, I know... And things have been relatively quieter around "my place", which makes me wonder if my crochet friends aren't too impressed with my new found hobby. (Sigh).. Oh well, what matters is that each of us does what makes us happy individually, and right now, I LOVE scrapping! As for stickles?.. I've got my first two coming in the mail very soon! I think I got both red and green stickles for the projects I'm currently working on (no, not Christmas!).. and some silver embossing powder.. and some Stazon Ink, for which, by trial and error, I've already learned might be nice to have on hand!.. Well, gotta make dinner! Good luck with the basement! ~tina
I love the rain too! In NM we had lots of greasewood and when it rained there was the most lovely fragrance. I thought rain always smelled that way till I moved away where there are no greasewood plants! Have a friend who lived in NM for several years before moving back to Boston and she says that the fragrance after a rain in NM is the one thing she misses.
I'm glad you didn't have to deal with a flooded basement!!

Years ago, we built on rock, knowing we'd never have a make-usable cellar. Had sump pump installed and hoped. :-)
It's fine, except when sump pump occasionally stops working. ,-)
This was where we wanted to build. It is high-ish-up [good] and so, we walked into it with eyes open.
Luck with your cellar issues.
:-)
I love the sound of a soft rain... But soggy basements, huh uh! I hope you get your basement sealed up before too long.
So happy to have found you and to be following along! Your house sounds amazing! So glad the basement stayed dry - this time! What a joy it is to won a house with a basement!
Please join me at my history blog - I'd love to have you along!
Blessings!
Ann
Nothing worse than a wet basement. Our first house was like yours, one side would always have it coming in.
I love a gentle rain too. So refreshing. :)

We had to pay $6,000 for a dry basement! It has definitely helped, but the water still finds it's way in from other places...like our slab on the front porch has fine cracks in it, so we get a little water in the fruit cellar from that, and then there is always the worry of rising waters from the creek that's about 30ft. in back of our house. It's always something, but I guess that's life! A nice soft rain is wonderful, torrential downpours...I HATE!
