Christmas Countdown Week 6 at The Old Parsoange

Things are really heating up here at The Old Parsonage. The tree is finally finished - this was a three day affair of decorating. I did the lights on Sunday, the ornie's last night and the beads and the angel this morning. I love opening the boxes and reminiscing over each ornament.

Who made which one. Where we bought them or who gave them to us. I can remember every one. Mr. OP's contribution to Christmas decorating ends when the tree is placed in the stand. He's not a Grinch, but he just doesn't like to help with the decorations.

If you've been following along with our Six Week Countdown to an organized Christmas then this week is Celebrate Week. I've put the last of our Christmas cards in the mail box and I'm going to finish shopping for the few remaining gifts that we need.

Mr. OP will be busy deer hunting, so my full attention will be on decorating and finalizing plans for food, baking and party making. Typically this is the week that I would send gifts to those we're not going to be with at Christmas. However, we will see everyone this year so I won't have to make that trip to the post office.

Have you noticed a trend in our ornaments? Yep, I have a ton of Santa heads and Old World glass Santas. I never realized how many.

Although I've been talking a lot about being organized for Christmas, please don't think that I have everything under control. There are still a lot of things to do here. But following along with the Organized Christmas plan helps keep me focused.

I just love to make a list and check it twice! Sorry, I couldn't help that one :) I'm back! Did you miss me? I'm watching QVC and just had to buy the Wen by Chaz Dean. No, it was not an impulse buy, I had it on my list, so that's another thing to check off.

So what have you all been doing to get ready for the holiday season this week?

Ohhhh your tree is all decorated! Wonderful. Our tiny one is up, and comes with lights so "Uncle A." doesn't have to do that *horror job* any more. :-)))))

But the bag of decorations sits in front of the tree, *mocking us.* -grin- Neither of us like putting the decorations on the tree.

We don't mind the other decorations, but.... Ding-dang-tree! -grin- Must just start. And it'll be done in no time. :-)

Hope you inspired me!

And technically, I'm glad you are not totalllllllllllly caught up with allllllllll preparations! Makes you more like we *poor people* out here, who are not, not, not as organized as you are. :-)

So seeeeeeee, not only are you giving yourself needed rest, you are making US FEEL BETTER, by not be totttttttttttttalllllly organized. -grin-

Gentle hugs,
"The orange-scented zephyrs stirred, the branches rustled, and the tinsel crackled like merry music, to which the sparkling lights danced."

I LOVE your tree, it's beautiful. For sure worth the 3 day effort. :)

I'm almost done. I have a couple of things left to buy and I still have to wrap everything (which I'm hoping to do either today or tomorrow.).

Looks to me like you've got pretty much everything under control. :)
It feels good, doesn't it?

((Hugs))

Mr. OP sounds alot like my husband...once the tree is in the stand, his job is done!!

I'm not 100% sure I'm even going to put up a big tree this year. My little beagle gets freaked out with things out of the ordinary, and a tree in the house is certainly out of the ordinary. So, I'm thinking about just putting up a 3-foot table-top tree instead. Not sure though.

And, I agree, getting the decorations out of the box---where they've been hidden for a year---is loads of fun. So many memories associated with all of them. I am especially touched by the ornaments my kids made when they were in preschool and kindergarten.

Have a great day.

Love,
Patti

Your tree is so pretty! Hope to get a little more done today - so far only hung wreaths and redid the dining table.
Have a great day.

I'm a QVC shopper too! Your tree looks so pretty Leann!! Love all of your Santa ornaments too! I'm finally done with the decorating and I'm going to wrap more gifts soon to put under the tree (this will keep my cats from getting under the tree). Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Your tree looks so nice by the stairs. You do sound organized. But if you get a lot done ahead, you can just sit back and enjoy -- or bake--or visit--so you are wise!

Does comparison shopping count as doing something? I did some of that today. I did wonder where you were, but assumed you were busy on the Christmas trail.

Hi LeeAnn...Tree looks lovely! You truly are very organized! I finally got the dining room table set with red cloth and my Christmas tree dishes. Took down amber glass from kitchen and hauled the fall wreath to the attic. Brought down the Christmas wreath for front door. Have Christmas knick knacks on bathroom shelf? See? I started! Susan
