I went to the eye doctor yesterday - one because it's been awhile and 2 because it's getting harder to read the fine print in dark places. Now, I've worn glasses and contact most of my life.

I was hit in the eye with a baseball when I was 4yrs old and almost lost my eye. But, some great doctors saved it and my sight. My prescription is pretty bad though and now they say that I need bi-focals.

Since I wear contacts most of the time he gave me a pair of multi-focal lenses to try. I popped them in this morning and am willing to give them a shot. It's a little odd, sometimes they seem fine and others it takes awhile to focus.

Anyone else wear these types of lenses? I''m getting the progressive lenses in my glasses, so we'll see how that goes too. I just need to be able to read my recipes. I hope that you are all enjoying this most wonderful season of great love.
PS - Please continue those prayers for Bobby. He has since developed ARDS (it's like his lungs are hardening and not functioning), they put in a trach tube and feeding tube.

Frustrating isn't it? to get to that stage of life where we can't see quite like we used to. I'm finding shedding some light on the page helps a lot too!
This is on my short list...haven't had an eye exam, other than for a driver's license, in years. I wear glasses that can be purchased anywhere for reading and close work. You're a smart gal to take care of your eyes and I hope that you can easily adjust to your new prescription.
Bobby sounds as if he needs much prayer. I have prayed for him and will do as often as I think of him. For his wife and family, too.
Dear One, I have never used contacts, although have used glasses for a long time. Being 74, I've had bi-focals for some time too.
They are not difficult to get used to.
I had progressive lenses when they first came out, and could not use them. Just went to the plain bi-focals and have enjoyed them, ever since.
Good luck with all this. I certainly hope the contacts work for you, since you are so used to wearing them.

I am past due for the eye doc. also. I can tell my vision is changing. I have never worn contacts, so I am of no help on those.Sorry your friend is still not doing well.
I have worn contacts for about 15 years. When I first started wearing contacts, I had mono-vision contacts...one eye NEAR and one eye DISTANCE. That worked fine - at least for several years. When I started doing more "close" work (jewelry & crochet), I found they didn't work well anymore. Then I switched to the multi-focal kind, which I LOVE!
Then about 18 months ago...I went for my exam and decided I really wanted to try glasses, because sometimes with all the close work, I thought glasses might work better. So, I have bi-focals. I started with the progressive lenses, which were awful! I couldn't find the area to see CLOSE!! I got awful headaches and returned to where I'd purchased them several times to see what they had for suggestions. After all of that, I just returned them and went with regular non-blended lenses, which were wonderful!!! They were great from the start.
Now...I'm going back for my annual exam...and going to find out if I could possibly be a candidate for tri-focals - since there's that certain not-close-and-not-distant area of sight. I hate going to the grocery store. I can't see at the normal cart distance from the shelves and that makes it hard to find what I need. I have to get within 18" to read the labels! So, hubby shops!!
After the Holidays...eye exam!!! First thing on my list.
Good luck with your new contacts - give 'em several days to get used to. If you have troubles, return to where you got them...they'll change them for you...before you order any.
Same thing goes with the progressive lenses, especially if your eyes feel strained, or you get persistant headaches.
Merry Christmas!!
My daughter has bi-focal glasses and contacts. I'm needing reading glasses just to thread a needle these days. yuck.
I'm still praying for Bobby!
So sorry to hear that your friend is not well. My thoughts and prayers go out to him.
I haven't had to do the bifocal or multifocal glasses yet!
I guess whatever you need ... :(

Oh My!!! Multifocal contacts!!! I tried them...wanted them to work so badly. I hope they work for you. I do have progressive lenses and love them! Also, my eye doctor fixed me a pair of glasses just for computerin'...the lenses are made to adjust your focus on the pixel thingys! It's time for new ones for me, too. Good luck and Merry Pixels!
May his lungs be healed, sweetie. Sorry to hear of his medical issues. I have quad progressive glasses & love them. But I just had 2 eye surgeries in 6 days & will now just need reading glasses. YAY!
Merry Christmas

Oh Leann, sorry about Bobby. Will keep praying.
Love your mug collection!
I finally succumbed to wearing reading glasses. Just SO GLAD to have sight. Period.
Take care. Your house looks so festive! Susan
What beautiful decorating...
I tried contacts but opted out for regular glasses. Guess I didn't want to have to fuss with them at night or in the mornings.
