Just this past weekend I decided it was time to clean house (at least where my blog reading was happening). It was really hard for me to unsubscribe or un-follow these blogs. I felt like I was hurting their feelings.
It's not like that was the case, I'm sure that most won't even notice that I'm not there anymore. But it was hard for me to do none the less. That's how I am in real life too. It's hard for me to say no to telemarketers, friends and family who ask us to go somewhere when I really want to say no, things like that - I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.
It's hard but I've started to say no to things that I'm too tired to do or when I just want some down time. Sometimes when I say "I have something planned," it may be that my plan is to take a nap, craft, read, etc. That's a plan right? I realize that I can't agree to everything and make others happy if I'm not happy or if I'm too tired.
I ran out of my homemade laundry soap while the kids were home visiting for Christmas. And just now had a chance to make another batch. The recipe is on my original post here. It's easy to make and soo inexpensive but the best part is it does a great job on the laundry. This time I shredded the soap (I used Zote) in my food processor - so much easier!
Not sure if anyone else got this message when they visited The Old Parsonage today. Vee brought it to my attention. I ran my url through a Malware detection site and it came back clean. So fingers crossed, the problem (whatever it was) is fixed. Thanks again Vee!
One last thing before I forget...what do you think about the large photos? I'm undecided, although I do like how the laundry soap looks in my Gram's yellow ware bowl.
I'm linking this post to How Sweet The Sound for some Pink Saturday fun and Hope in Every Season for Homemaking Weekend!

I agree, sometimes we just gotta clean house in more ways than one.
My blog list is so long and I know that some of the blogs no longer exist. The truth is I'm too lazy to go through it all! LOL
Love the homemade soap. I'm gonna try it one day.
hugs

Oh, that's a scary warning! Always okay when I visit!
I always prefer large photos. Yours look great :)
Hi Leann! Pretty background, and as for photos?.. I like them large! It's no fun squinting and straining to see the smaller ones.. (not at my age, I guess!) As for "cleaning house", I feel that way too, when unsubscribing. That's why I really like it when people give you the option to email you their posts. I don't know how to do that with my own blog, but will have to look into that sometime, when I can FIND the time.... Have a great day, and keep warm. It's been miserably cold and windy around here lately. I'm just staying INDOORS as much as possible! ~tina
Thanks for stopping by Leann, I like your blog and your values. I had to laugh about you feeling bad about unsubscribing to blogs, that sounds so much like me! I am crazy enough to follow a blog because they only have 11 followers and I think it will make their day to get one more. I remember when it was that way for me. I have had to do similar, I have reorganized my google reader into friends, must reads and if I have time folders. It really makes it easier. Ps I will have to add you to must reads, lol. ~Diane
Phew! Whatever you did worked because I was able to read and not get that evil message. I'm going back now to read about the new furnace. Oh, I adore large pictures.
I also need to do some "cleaning" on my computer and make some changes on my blog - just need to take the time. It is easy for me to say no to telemarketers, and I have gotten better the last few years at saying it to family and friends.
The soap almost looks like something to eat. :D
The photo size is good! It almost makes the soap worth eating... Does that mean I needed to eat a bigger breakfast?
YES!!!! We must protect ourselves. We must say NO, when we know it is best for us.
No more worrying about hurting feelings!
Love large pictures! I don't like to have to take the time, to click on teeny pics, to see them better.
Oh please cull your blogs. Say NO when you feel like it. Etc. It is being a massochist (someone who beats themselves up) to not do so.
No matter what you were taught about ladies always having to be *nice.* Phooooooooooie on that! Auntie sezzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
Gentle hugs...
The large picture is pretty and well as the color of the soap, could be a dessert-be careful. Thanks for commenting on my new blog book--the company is SharedBook is your interested.
Ann
The laundry soap looks as pretty as food. And good for you to be learning to say "no"--you'll probably live longer! Seriously, life is full of choices and we can't do everything--even read all the blogs we'd like to. I enjoy yours. Happy weekend!
I like the large photos. I tend to mix it up depending on the pic {or my mood :p} I have been making my own laundry detergent, dishwasher & dish (sink) soap for awhile now...it's it the best? Saying you are busy (even if it IS a nap) is absolutely FINE! You can't be your best as a friend or partner if you don't take care of you from time to time. No Guilt!!
Wags, Niki
I like the large photos! They show your soap off beautifully.
I keep meaning to try homemade laundry soap but haven't got round to making any yet! It is safe for H.E. washers-right? Probably just use less.....
Vee was saying something about Blogger changing how people follow our blogs so.. I wonder what that will do to the people we subscribe to!! :O
((Hugs))

Hi Leann...I LIKE the large photos. Very nice! I like big photos in general, more than smaller versions.
Take care and have fun cleaning. (That's what I need to do, too.) Susan
Your soap looks good enough to eat! lol I really must try to make my own laundry soap one day, it's just getting ridiculous what they charge at the grocery stores.
I can understand about "cleaning house" where blogs are concerned. I did just that right after the New Year, there were so many blogs on my list that I just didn't enjoy visiting anymore and we really had nothing in common. Like you, though, I hate hurting anyone's feelings:-(
I've never gotten that warning when visiting your blog, thank goodness:-) xoxo
Those photos of your soap are delightful, and delicious looking. Pink is always pretty. And your soap pics, are wonderful. :-)

Leann,
The large photos are great. Especially since clicking on post photos doesn't enlarge them anymore.
Cleaning house in general is a good idea. I do it from time to time, but it does kinda make you feel guilty.
Gotta check out the home made soap.
Saying no sometimes is a good thing. We must practice compassion towards ourselves.
I've just lately made my first batch of laundry soap and I love it! Now you'll have to tell me where you got that beautiful pink bar of soap, I've never seen that before. Does it make your detergent pink? Oh, I hope so! :) Happy Pink Saturday!
I like bigger photos too! I get those warning and Mommy will tell me "Close it" right away.
Come and see my PINK, you can also link with my Color Connection meme. Happy Pink Saturday.
Love the large photos. Nothing wrong with saying NO!! Don't worry about hurting someone's feelings. Truth is if you worry about that, you'll just beat yourself up about it because you said yes instead of no to something you didn't really want to do in the first place. Have a nice weekend!
It is not always easy, but there comes a time you need to say no. It is okay.
Hi Leann,
I'm glad you were able to fix your blog. I love the larger pictures too. Some blogs I have to put my glasses on just to see the pictures. :-)
Look at all that soap. That looks like fun. I'm all for saving money.
There is nothing wrong with cleaning house. I like the way you think.
Dee
Hi Leann!
Thanks so much for linking up...it was great to hear from you! ;)
I totally know what you mean regarding "cleaning house" and feeling guilty/obligated about things! In fact, if you have the chance some time, you ought to go read my posts about my "obligation free" year I've got planned! Ha! :) They're called "Peaceful Changes", dated 1/4/12 and "New Years Goals", dated 12/30/11.
I've heard of people making the homemade laundry soap and have wondered about it...maybe I'll give it a shot. Anything to save some money...we do about 4 loads a day around here! :)
Hope you have a lovely weekend! HaPpY pInK sAtUrDaY!
Sarah
Lovely pink!
My PINK is inviting you to come and see. Have a nice weekend!
hmmm ... I don't unsubscribe but I do have to delete some in my favorites side bar if they haven't posted in a long time.
I like the large photos but since I've found out I can click on them and get an enlarged slide show (I knoooow it takes me awhile ) if something interests me I can get a closer look.
Happy PS !
First of all, I love the pink soap! That's really cool.
I didn't get the warning, but I check in every few days or so, so maybe I missed it.
Large pix -- I always say the bigger the better! They look terrific.
Finally, I hope you still keep visiting me, because I love dropping by you!
I WISH I could find Zote here, I use Fels-Naptha in mine and I love it, but I would like to try it with Zote...one day :)
You need to take time for yourself, even to take a nap :)
I know what you mean about not following blogs anymore. But I do love the big photos! Shows lots more details.
You can really get bogged down in blogging, for sure. I had to really re-evaluate the amount of time I was spending hopping around reading what other people were doing and get busy doing the things I wanted to do :) Thanks for showing the soap again....it made me remember that I wanted to make some after seeing your original post.....am going to do it this time, for sure! Take time for yourself......

Hi LeAnn! What a nifty thing - food processing laundry soap! So pretty! But, I fear the fragrance might really wreak havoc with my sinuses!
Just a note to let you know I mentioned you in my Pink Saturday post - and linked to you.
That odd screen message was kinda scary - I'm having an issue with Pinterest as you'll see in my post. Any suggestions?
Joy!
Kathy
I like the large photos! And I like the pink soap, too!
Leann,I make this soap too with Zote. After I grate it and mix with the soda and borax I use the bottom blade of the food processor and it makes a pretty pink all the same granule soap powder. Seems to dissolve better then the long flakes too.
If you don't sew you can take a long knee high sock and fill it with rice, or flax seed or barley and use it the microwave too Oh after you fill the sock about 2/3 full just knot the end to keep all the goodies inside. Try microwaving 2 minutes at a time till temp you like. Mine is a very old mic so I go 3 min take it out and shake the barley around then back in for another 3 - I don't think anyone could have a microwave as ancient as mine though! Let me know if it works for you!
bee blessed
