Every year Mr OP gets me at least one new cookbook. He knows how I love to read them. This year's new books are fab! The Weight Watcher Cookbook is from Pam. I borrowed hers last year and it had a ton of great recipes in it, so she got me one. Thanks again Pam!
The Farm Chicks are terrific. Have you read their blog? I love how their cook book has snippets of stories interspersed with the wonderful recipes.
There's one about aprons that I love. I'm an apron gal myself, and when our nieces come over to bake or cook they wear them too. I bought Miss Puddin one a few years back for Christmas - I guess she was 13 then. She asked for a few family recipes, so I made her a mini recipe book and gave her an apron too. It was a great hit!

Mr OP usually gets me a new apron every year too, but this year we cut back on gift buying and I really don't "need" a new one. I have several that both of my grandmothers wore and they are extra special. My Nan actually had the "hostess" type of aprons too. You know those frilly ones that are like the good table cloths that you use on special occasions.

She'd wear them for card club or special dinners. I think that they are kinda sexy. I have to admit, that Mr OP chose this one on his own with no hints from me. I watched the Pioneer Woman's mini- series on the Food Network and loved her - Mr OP took notice and liked her recipes. He admitted to standing in the book store just looking around and thought it would be perfect. He was right. I'm making her Jalapeno Poppers for dinner tomorrow night. They sound yummy and I already have everything needed to make them except the jalapenos. Be sure to click on the link and visit her website and blog. She's a great writer and her recipes sound yummy.

She loves her family and her Marlboro Man and has a sense of humor -this is the last photo in the cookbook. Ree also shares a lot of great recipes on her website. Check them out - I know I plan on making a lot of new things this year and these cookbooks will be a great start. I have to continue to modify them to be gluten free but I'm not discouraged, I'm looking forward to it.
Enjoy your weekend!

Leann, all your new cookbooks look like fun + lots of new recipes to try!
Thanks so much for visiting - I'll send you the Lizzie recipe.
Happy Cooking :)

Hi Leann...Wow, what a wonderful collection of new cookbooks. Thanks for showing and sharing them. You know how I love aprons and the stories that go with them. You know, cooking gluten free using regular recipies is not all that difficult. I substitue Red Mill all purpose flour and add Xanthum Gum for 'called for flours' in regular recipies...works great!
Also, have you seen my Gluten Free Bread Recipe and Tutorial on CollectInTexas Gal? Here's the link: http://collectintexasgal.blogspot.com/2011/02/glutenfree-bread-baking-roundupa.html
I used to work with a lady that "read" cookbooks...She would take them to bed with her....I thought she was nuts! Now I find myself intrigued by them more and more...I would love to have The Pioneer Woman's ckbk myself! I love passing along a favorite recipe to family and friends!!
Wow, Mr. OP is quite the guy! Knowing a perfect gift without having to ask for a list!
Want to know my theory about cookbooks...you can never have too many! I love them too, and so does my 21 year old daughter, who is the resident cook of our home now. She LOVES cooking and baking...far more than I ever did.
I love aprons too and have several of them. They're so pretty, though, so I hate getting them dirty, which I always do because since daughter is the resident cook, I am the resident kitchen cleaner. Washing dishes and cleaning up the stove always gets my aprons messy.
Have a lovely day,
Patti
So nice to get things which one really wants!!!
Already I have forgotten that you too have to live Gluten Free! It's interesting doing so, yes. But completely do-able. Especially since not doing so, causes such icky *potty issues,* for me anyway. -giggles-

Hi! I popped over from Susan's at Writing Straight from the Heart. I love the beautiful header of the lace curtains on the clothes line. It's so soothing to look at! I had to stop and comment after reading how you love to read cookbooks. I got such a kick out of that, because I'm the same way. I love to own them, read them, salivate over the photos, but most of the time I never make anything...unless it's for company. My husband is TOOOOO picky! Thanks for sharing!
Love, love The Farm Chicks!!! I have both of her books, and can't wait for the next one to come out!!!
Gave most of my cookbooks away several years ago. Did not use them much and did not have a good place to store them.
You had a great score on the cookbooks! I'd love those ones too. Lucky you!
And... you know how much I LOVE aprons! I wear them all the time. Mostly the hostess type cause you're right-they are sexy. :P
Have fun leafing through your new books!

That certainly is a great assortment of cookbooks that you got for Christmas:-) I love cookbooks as well and have tons of them, I really need to go through them and get rid of some because I just don't have any room for them. You will love Ree's recipes, I often visit her blog and copy down her recipes, I've yet to come across any one that isn't good!! I remember my gran and my mom wearing aprons when I was a little girl but it's not something I ever think of wearing. Hmmmm, maybe I should get myself one, sure would save some of my shirts that get splattered on when I'm cooking! lol xoxo
Oh I love cook books and cooking stuff, it's the cooking that gets me! lol I know I am crazy! I have 2 out of these three and they are super fun to just read!!
ENJOY!!
Hugs, Lisa
I love the Farm Chick's cookbook, bought it last year, and sent a note to Serena and GOT ONE BACK!
Want the Pioneer Woman's, too, so good to know you like it!
You got some great cookbooks for Christmas, Leann. You'll have many hours of reading time in them, I'm sure.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog today, too. Nice to have you visit. Susan
Leann,
I have mentioned you in my latest post on A Debbie-Dabble Christmas.
Please stop by to see!
Hugs,
Deb
These all sound great! I love cookbooks. Love 'em. Like yor apon tradition -- they're not my best look, and sometimes I care and sometimes not! Mr. OP knows you well!
Love your presents. I also love looking thru cookbooks and blogs with recipes.
I LOVE cookbooks! I skimmed the Pioneer Woman cookbook at the book store and you're right, great recipes!
Those cookbooks look great! I've got way more cookbooks than I need, but I got two more this year anyway.
I love exploring through them and getting inspired for new meals.
I really like Ree's cookbook and especially that pot roast...yummo! And I'm sure that I'd enjoy the Farmchicks' one as well. I adore the Mennonite Girls Can Cook one. It's filled to the brim with wonderful stories and recipes. Happy baking! Happy Cooking!
Hi Leann,
Oh yes cook books are wonderful! You can never have enough.
I'm like you I love reading them and of course trying new recipes.
Dee
Love especially The Farm Chicks and the Pioneer Woman; I follow their blogs and I'm a big fan! I am constantly checking these out at the library until I get my own copies!
