Knowing that the garbage man was coming this morning I quickly took the ornies off the tree yesterday morning before heading to work. The tree was just starting to drop needles - not too bad since we cut it down and have had it in the house since Black Friday. Taking the lights off only took a few minutes last night and now she's sitting out at the street.

I would have loved to keep the tree up another week with just the lights on, but that would mean more mess to clean up. I swept up the needles last night, but the ornies and lights are sitting exactly where you see them below. I was just too tired to do anything else last night and this morning I sit here instead:)

Just so you don't think I'm a total slacker - I'm multi-tasking -I have a load of laundry in the washing machine this morning while I'm blogging. Our weather is changing today - it's getting colder and we're supposed to get a lot of rain tonight. This sends my fibromyalgia into a tizzy and I've learned not too push on days like these.
I haven't taken down the outside decorations yet. Have you?

Don't sound like a slacker to me. My decor came down pretty fast, but then I did not do near as much this year. I am slow moving this morning - lack of sleep last night. :( Cold, damp weather plays havoc on fibro. and arthritis. Hope you feel better soon.
No. I haven't. I don't plan to. The outside lights will be on in all snowstorms and bad weather days and in spring and summer they'll become my fairy lights. The wreath on the front door minus the bow becomes my winter wreath. The wreath on the side door still looks good and warns me with its jingle bells of approaching husband. =)
Stay well...good not to push through days you know will be tough.
We still have our lights up outside. Hopefully hubby will take them down this weekend.
I'm glad that everything is down and over with. I can only take Christmas decorations for so long and then I'm done. :)
Hope that you feel better.
((Hugs))

Oh, just take your time and enjoy the season for all its worth. If it makes you happy then that's all that is important. We live such rushed and stressed lives that we really do need to stop and smell the roses or pine boughs. I hope you have a healthy, prosperous, and happy new year!
Take your time on all of it--it will wait for you. All my stuff is finally down and put away. I always love the clean and fresh time in January. Time for some rest too. Hopefully!
Hi Leann....You had a very pretty tree. Yeah, the outside lights are all down and put away, thanks to my hubs. I took care of the inside of the house----tons of decorations----and I didn't even put them all up this year.
Oh well, it was a lovely season and now, on to Valentine's Day! Ha!
Take care. Susan
Don't fret... you aren't the only one. We just put the last Christmas box in the attic today. I have a snowman tree that always gets decorated before Christmas and stays out through the winter. Right now, it's just sitting there with lights on as the snowmen wait patiently to be put on the tree. Maybe tomorrow? I'm not too worried... it'll get done soon enough.
Enjoy the rest of your week. We just got about an inch of snow, our first of the winter!
I left the lights up outside, but took down the blow up nativity and the greenery from the railings. The ornaments from our tree sit on the couch sorted by delicate, breakable and regular. The mantel is cleared off but I haven't ironed the doilies yet to put back up. Hopefully by this weekend all will be back to normal.
Hi Leann,
We just took our tree down on Tuesday. I wish I could have left it up also, but there would be more needles to clean up. Yup, mine are still sitting in the hall, waiting to go up into the attic. You have to crawl up there, and it's hard on the back. I wish I had the attic in my childhood home. You could stand upright, and even build more rooms up there. Funny thing is, there was nothing much up there. Not the knickknacks like we have to day. I probably would have that baby filled!! lol
Hugs,
Debbie
I too have just started packing away Last Christmas! Thank you ever so much for sharing. I will follow on my way out and hope that you may make some time to come visit me and do the same. I look forward to engaging more in twenty twelve. Cheers SpecialK XoXo
Tree removal. That's what I'm doing today. We did Rick's live tree last weekend. Mine don't shed, so that's not the issue, it's just that I love them and hate to take them down. That said, it is time. I'll leave up the small white winter wonderland tree. Just because! And some of the inside lights (the ones in the punchbowl!) After all, that red and white works for Valentine's Day, too!
