Something to talk about

We've been enjoying the recipes from the Pioneer Woman's cookbook. The recipes are soo easy to follow and don't call for too many ingredients. So far I've made the Jalapeno Poppers, Pot Roast, Pulled Pork and just this week Rib Eye Steaks with Whiskey Cream Sauce - all  get 5 stars in our opinion.

That's not an easy feat - Mr OP is pretty darn picky. I make pretty much everything from scratch - always have. Back in the day (before working full time) I even canned veggies and fruit. Talk about rewarding! There's nothing better than seeing rows and rows of mason jars full of summer's bounty. Now that I work full time and the guys aren't here, I buy fresh fruits and veggies when they are in season and what we don't use I freeze. If I have the time I do make an occasional jam or pickles and can those.

I love to make bread, but there's not too much of a need for it around The Old Parsonage anymore. I do still make a loaf or two whenever it snows and I make homemade vegetable soup. Talk about a way to cozy up the kitchen! I haven't made cinnamon raisin bread in awhile, so that idea has been kicking around in my head. I'm thinking that I'll make the bread then turn it into french toast. Mr OP will love it, and  it'll smell wonderful!

Good Morning LeAnn Sweetie...
A beautiful share this morning. The poppers sound yummy and pot roast is my favorite. I have not heard of this Pioneer Woman cookbook. Thank you for sharing the link. I will be checking this one out.

I too, loved when I wasn't working. I made home made bread, smelled heavenly with butter melting on a fresh slice. I also loved making my own home made tortillas. I would bake on Monday for the week. What fun. I can't remember the last time I made from scratch.

Thank you for the memories this morning my dear friend. Have a glorious and blessed day. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

It all sounds so yummy - especially the fresh cinnamon bread! I used to bake a lot when the kids were here, but now I'm trying not to eat so much so better not to bake it :)

Now I am hungry! :D
I never canned, but use to freeze a lot of things. Don't cook that much anymore, but I have served my time slinging those pots and pans.:)
Have a good day.

Thanks for the link and the recommendations too. I used to follow her but got busy and forgot. I cook a lot from scratch, not everything, but I do love to cook.

Sounds like cinnamon raisin bread would be a great Valentine treat for someone!

Oh, Leann, the homemade cinnamon raisin bread sounds so GOOD; and it just keeps getting colder and colder around here lately. I may try to make some myself, it sounds so good! Dear Son loves raisin bread for toasting, just as much as I do, and it's so expensive to buy at the stores, for my budget, so I always just walk right by it. But homemade is ALWAYS best, I think! I'd much rather make my own!.. Hope you're keeping warm where you are, and have fun baking! ~tina
