Last week when Mr OP started the tree trimming I couldn't resist bringing in a few branches to force. It sure is taking quite a while for the blooms to come out.
Tonight I noticed some of the white daffodils blooming in the side garden. I may have to snip a few for the house tomorrow. Don't you just love to bring in flowers from the yard?
Spring is in the air and the sights and sounds...it's lovely. We've taken to walking on the trail again now that it stays light long enough after work. Sure beats walking in circles around the school campus - not that I'm complaining about that walk but the trail is soo much nicer.
I made another of the Pioneer Woman's recipes - braised beef brisket. It was really good, but pay close attention to when she says use low sodium soy sauce. I bought the regular kind and the brisket was a bit on the salty side.
PW's newest cookbook came out this week. I'm going to be good and not buy it for myself, but I will do some shameless hinting as my birthday approaches:)
Did anyone out there get it yet?

I have not tried to force any blooms for some time. I planned to get a couple of stems from the neighbors forsythia bush and when I went out to cut them one morning, it had already started blooming out.
Worked outside today and walked later, so I should sleep good tonight. :D
Love pussy willows!
We're in full Spring bloom here now!

What a great idea! Bringing Spring into the home :)
Mmmmmmm, how do you "force" a branch?
Do you put a little water in the bottom of the container, perhaps? And hope? ,-)
"Love and a cottage" is an age-old dream.
lovely pictures!....didn't know there was such a thing as white daffodils.
LOL

Hi Leanne, what a wonderful post...I too love bringing in flowers that I have grown.
Your photos are just lovely - love your saltglaze...one of my addictions.
Blessings,
Karen
Hi Leann....Spring hasn't quite sprung here yet but it's well on its way. Take care and have a terrific day today. Susan
welcome spring! seems to be appearing all across the country. Looks like your forced blooming is working!
Hi sweet Friend!
Yes, spring is certainly in the air here in central NJ too! My hyacinths are in bloom and the daffs are getting there. I love this time of year! Have a great weekend! Love the pretty crock pot the blooms are in too.
Hugs,
Debbie
Not yet, but I want it. =D
My forsythia was cut last weekend and the first blooms are out today. It does take a few days.
Just brought in some dwarf Iris last night and more to come now that the daffs are getting close! Hope the forcing works. It'll be gorgeous!
It's 7:20 p.m. and still bright out...gotta love it:-) We had a ton of snow last week but this week it's been above normal temperatures and it's melting like crazy. I noticed my tulips are all coming up from the ground as well. This is an early thaw for us, it doesn't usually happen until the start of April. We went from having frigid and snowy weather to this, going up into the low 60's!!
I still haven't tried any of PW's recipes but have heard so many good things about them, I really must get her cookbook!!
Make sure you come over to my blog to enter my blogibersary giveaway if you haven't done so already:-) xoxo
We are still in winter but it will hit 75 in Michigan today! Maybe we won't see spring this year, lol.
I saw the book at Walmart this week and was really tempted to buy it! But her food is pretty high calorie for my family, so I didn't. Still working my way through her first book. Love to watch her show on the Food Network; she's a winner in my book.
This early Spring has been gorgeous here in the Shenandoah Valley. I've done quite a bit of trimming myself that the allergies are setting in to my eyes. I wish it could be Spring forever , though. Hope your branches turn out just right!
