It's supposed to snow this afternoon, how great of Mother Nature to help us celebrate Rudolph Day! We're only supposed to get 1-3 inches, just enough to make traveling home from work a bit tricky. But, the temps have been cold enough this week so that it should last until Saturday when I can enjoy it!
What's better on a cold snowy day than something to warm your innards? So I'm thinking a cup of hot cocoa with all the fixin's. Although I'm not sure about it for me. That's a lot of milk products and I've been sick this week with a head cold.
I typically make hot cocoa by pouring boiling half and half or heavy cream over chocolate buds or wafers. It's so simple to make and such a decadent treat. It's even nice to add a splash of peppermint schnapps (for the adults only of course).
I'll be celebrating Rudolph Day throughout the weekend and have a short list of things that I want to accomplish...
- I'm going to update my Christmas Card list by adding all the new/change of addresses from the Christmas cards that we received this year.
- I'm also going to go through my Christmas Magic and organize all the new ideas that I've torn out of holiday mags. I'll separate by category (cooking/baking, decorating, gift giving, etc.)
- I may also sneak in a Christmas movie this weekend while I'm in my studio creating wonderfully, romantic things for Valentine's Day!
What are your plans for today or the weekend?

Yikes! A Rudolph Day already, this year! :-))))
Ahhhhhh yes, the 25th of Jan. I remember it well. Morning when our middle child was born, 50 years ago!
50 years ago! Oldest, is older. Youngest will be 50, next year. EEEEK!! ,-)
Enjoy all parts of the weekend, and get home very safely, from work today.
If you have lactose or any tummy problems, that decadent Hot Chocolate would be ........ make your tummy, etc., very "interesting." -grin-
"Auntie"
Ohhh...a Christmas movie is something I could do as well. I missed watching some of my very favorites last Christmas. Did you happen to see Jeopardy last night when the champ said that he listens to Christmas music all year round? So cute. A young man, too.
Some years, January 25 finds me thinking that Christmas was just yesterday. This year, it feels as if it was a long way back. How odd!
Happy Rudolph Day!! I posted over on my Christmas blog... I remembered!!
Hugs,
Deb
Hi Leann....Mmmmmm, that hot chocolate sure looks yummy.
This weekend I plan to do some cleaning around the house, maybe work on my dollhouse bakery, and make a pound cake for my hubs, for starters.
Take care. Hope your weekend is terrific. Susan
I just HAD to stop by when I saw that gorgeous cup of something wonderful! I've never heard of any celebration concerning Jan 25th. Please tell me more! Christmas really is over too quickly, I think. It has such a build-up with stores, and commercials, etc...beginning in October!...and then, Boom...it's over and gone. I think that's why some people really feel "down" when it's over, too.. Thanks for the lovely picture and words!
Sounds like a nice weekend for you. All good ideas, I updated my card list already. I could do major reorganizing of Christmas and holiday decor. Stay warm, Leann. I like to make an old fashioned cup of hot cocoa like that for myself. xo
You have my mouth watering with that yummy hot chocolate! ~Diane
Wow does that look good! Would be good on a day like today as we are having a bit of an ice storm.
A Rudolph day, indeed! I could go for a Christmas movie right now!
The snow is lovely. Glad I'm home.
This weekend is pretty full - a conference all day Saturday, then church Sunday followed by lunch with friends.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the snow!
Cool!! A nice slow evening with hot chocolate sounds like a grand plan!!!
Christmas movie! I was scrolling through our dvr list and started to delete the Christmas movies we'd recorded but stopped and am so glad I did!
