What makes a Happy Home? I love to take care of my family. For me, creating a home that is warm and inviting, where everyone feels welcome is pure joy! The smell of fresh laundry just in off the clothesline, a neat and tidy home and garden, a good home cooked meal, a few desserts here and there, the love of family, friends and fellowship all help to make our home a Happy Home. Join me as we celebrate the holidays, the birthdays and the every days!

That Darned Cat!

Meet Pete. He's one of the original feral cats in our neighborhood. Mr OP dubbed him Pete because of the color of his fur. He's orange and a really pretty orange at that. Mr OP's friend in high school (Pete) had the same color hair - bright orange - thus the name.

Pete's a climber. He loves to perch on top of the pergola and stare down at the world going on around him, although he does a lot of looking up too. We don't really mind Pete all that much, he's kept the mice population down in the yard and barn, not to mention the house. It's all the other cats and kittens that have invaded our neighborhood in the past year or so that we're not too happy with. Pete is fixed, so he's not the culprit of the cat population boom.

The weather has been fairly warm this past week, but it's also been over cast and rainy too. I've put away all my decor de amore (wow a rhyme!) and am ready to get out my Easter/spring things. I'm really looking forward to hyacinths in the markets. I LOVE that wonderful smell, it just says Easter to me.

I know that I didn't mention decorating for St Patrick's day. We don't really do anything special for it other than maybe cook something in honor of the day. Who knows, I might surprise myself this year and create some kind of decoration, but in all reality - it's not likely.

Do you decorate or do anything special for St Patrick's Day?

We honor St. Patrick's with an Irish meal, sometimes some soda bread, and that's all. I'm not into "Easter mode" yet even though Easter is the last day of March. It's just not a pastel world out there. We'll see what the coming days bring.

Pete looks like a nice yard guard. ☺

Good to see Spring on its way there, we have 6 inches of snow, lol! I don't decorate for St Pats but we do have our Corned Beef and Cabbage! ~Diane

Cheery cat pictures -- I like his perch and the color of the photos. Also catching up on your previous posts and had to comment on your family tree(s). How special! I hope we can instill love of family history in our kids, somehow~

Pete is very handsome! He looks like my cat "Red Cat" who is actually orange. But Orange Cat for a name just didn't sound right! :) Maggie

Pete is perfect, because he is fixed!

I'm not one for bright green, so I don't do St. Patrick's Day decorations.

And here I am, Irish. 1/4 anyway. :-)

No - I don't decorate for St. Patty's day. Pretty kitty.

I am 100% Italian, and I always make a St. Paddy's day meal of corned beef and cabbage, potato soup, or a shepherd's pie and I bake soda bread. I used to have friends over, most of whom were not Irish lol. I don't really decorate but I do set a green table. xo

Although I've got plenty of Irish in me, I do nothing for St Patrick's Day except maybe wear something green!

Pete is quite photogenic! HeeHee! Very pretty kitty!

Our middle daughter loves her daddy's Irish heritage so she is totally into everything Irish!

Always a pleasure to visit you here!

Enjoy your weekend!

Aw Peter reminds me of Gypsy! Very handsome! And good mouser!

Sometimes I'll make corned beef (no cabbage unless cole slaw!) and/or soda bread. All depends on the mood! This year it is on Sunday, so I stand a better chance of it!
